The John A. Stacker Post in Loomis was formed in November of 1945. It was named in honor of Lt. John A. Stacker of Loomis, an Army Air Corps fighter pilot killed in action in Europe on November 13th, 1943.

A large number of the founding Veterans of the Post were members of the 442nd Infantry Regiment, a regiment best known for its history as a fighting unit composed almost entirely of second generation Japanese Americans (Nisei) who fought in World War II. They are the most decorated unit in Military History, the unit’s motto was “Go for Broke”, and they were famous in WWII for the rescue of the “Lost Battalion”.

Our meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 6:00 pm, unless a Holiday, in our meeting room in the rear of the Loomis Veterans’ Memorial Hall, located at 5945 Horseshoe Bar Road. There is usually a social hour prior to the meeting. For a map and directions go to our contact us page. If you would like to write to us, the address is 5945 Horseshoe Bar Rd., Loomis, CA 95650.

If you are a Veteran that would like to give a few hours each month to help those in YOUR COMMUNITY, and make some great friends, please come to the meetings, or fill out the application for membership (Membership webpage). We would be honored to have you as a member.

Events the Post Sponsors or Contributes Annually

We are very proud to support the Del Oro WINGS Program for its presentation on Memorial Day, 9:00 AM, at the Del Oro football stadium. The students perform music, read poems, and/or give speeches that honor their families and those in the community who served in the Military. We honor all Veterans, and especially those who gave all for their country.

The Post awards annual certificates to students from the Loomis and Newcastle Grammar School Districts, and two scholarships to Del Oro High School graduating seniors.

We are proud to sponsor local High School Juniors to the Annual Boys and Girls State Conference. These are some of the top student citizens in the Loomis Basin.

The Post may provide funds to the Local Boy Scout Troop #12 for Eagle Scout projects, Miner’s Ravine 4H Club or Senior Life Center.

We may sponsor or help coordinate golf tournaments to raise funds for different community causes.

Occasionally, we provide hunter safety classes for local youth and their parents. There is a small fee and participants will be provided with expert instruction and certification.

We purchased and installed a new storage building for the Loomis Town Library to store all the books that have been donated to free up additional space in the Library. The Library is another example of the community coming together to support a local cause.

We also partner with the Loomis Lion’s Club and Loomis Chamber of Commerce on many events throughout the year.

One of our big events each year is the annual lighting of the Christmas tree, with the whole Town coming out to participate. A local family donates the tree and the Post members haul it in and set it up with all the lights and decorations, for the Town to enjoy during the Christmas Holiday.
